You know your fireplace needs servicing when...

• your fire bricks are falling into your firebox - failure to replace them compromises the efficiency of your fire. NB: If the bricks are just cracked this is not an issue.
• there is a hole in the baffle which is situated in the top of the firebox - you need to replace it as this will also let the heat escape straight up the flue which compromises the efficiency of the fire.
• your firebox has a crack in it - immediate action is required and the fire should not be left unattended when in use.
• you are experiencing smoke coming out of the door  - chances are you have a blockage and should have your flue swept. If your blockage is caused from birds, a Bird Protection is available and recommended. If moisture is the cause you need to check your wood and prepare earlier for the season ahead.
