Urban Lumberjack - Black Wattle

A South African special!

Acacia Mearnsii or as we know it, Black Wattle is known to be an invasive species in many parts of the world. Producing many seeds it is difficult to contain. Much of the charcoal that comes to New Zealand from South Africa is in fact Black Wattle.

Black Wattle is such a versatile wood. Its sweet spot is Braai where it produces beautifully even heat and long-lasting coals on an open fire. It can be used in an offset smoker and is great for braziers or throwing into the log burner in winter to warm your castle.
